Spirulina Smoothie Bowl — Marleen’s October Recipe

You’ve never seen a breakfast more beautiful than instagram’s latest food trend: smoothie bowls. They’re just as delicious as they are aesthetically pleasing, giving you a a more satisfying experience than slurping down a smoothie in two seconds. Add your favorite fruit and nuts as topping to add texture. This spirulina smoothie bowl has a gorgeous turquoise color and is the perfect way to start the day.

Ingredients

For 1 large bowl

  • 1 ripe banana, frozen
  • 1 ripe mango
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1tsp spirulina
  • handfull blueberries
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 10 mint leafs

Toppings:

  • almonds, roughly chopped
  • berries
  • coconut, fine and/or flakes
  • 50g chocolate, melted – au bain marie
  • mint leafs

Instructions: Add all the ingredients in the kitchen machine and adjust the mixture to taste. Pour the mixture in a bowl.Top with almonds, berries, coconut, 50g chocolate and mint or other desired toppings.

Tip: make sure all your ingredients are very ripe to prevent a bitter taste. In case of emergency you can compensate bitterness with sweet fruit like (extra) banana, a bit of honey or vanilla-extract.
