Yoni

Yoni Fem-Care

Any idea what your tampons, pads and panty liners are made of?

Cotton-like does not mean cotton
Many women assume their products are made from cotton but most pads and tampons are made of synthetic materials like rayon and often contain plastic.

Cotton is the most heavily pesticide sprayed crop
So whatever gets sprayed onto those cotton plants can end up in the cotton itself, which can then be used to make the tampons, pads and liners that end up in your pants.

Synthetic substances can make your vagina itch
Yep, right down there. So if you feel an itch during your period, you might want to try switching to an organic cotton option.
yoni's story

That’s why we started Yoni

In 2011, a specialist advised Mariah to start using organic tampons and pads. This was the first time she’d ever thought her sanitary choices and upon investigation, she found that there was a lot more to tampons and pads than meets the eye.

She started doing some more in-depth research with her good friend, Wendelien, and what they learnt shocked them both. They discovered that not only are many tampons and pads made from synthetic materials, containing plastics and perfume, but that there are also no specific rules or legal requirements when it comes to listing ingredients on feminine care packaging.

Strange, considering that the vagina is one of the most absorbent parts of the body.

That’s why in 2014, Mariah and Wendelien decided to set up Yoni.

We believe that every woman should know what she’s putting between her legs. We want to break the taboo, ditch the shame and start talking about periods properly. We believe it’s time to revolutionise the fem care industry. And we hope you’ll join us.
