Spring, the season that many love and enjoy observing in nature. The temperatures slowly rise, the first plants begin to bloom, it starts to “smell like spring” and the world awakens from its winter sleep. It’s a magical time full of new beginnings. In this article, I write about the “spring” phase of our cycle; a rather popular cycle phase. I also briefly explain what is going on in the body hormone-wise, sharing not only the beautiful things, but also any challenges that may arise, to uncover the hidden potential in this cycle phase.
It is extremely important to note that I am not a doctor. In this article, I share my own experiences, observations, and what I have learned from reading. I also assume a 28-day cycle, but each cycle varies individually between 21 or 37 days, which is completely normal.
After bleeding, a new follicle now begins to mature under the influence of the hormone FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), in which a still immature egg lies.
As the follicle matures, estrogen levels rise and ensure that the uterine lining builds up again. Estrogen also affects our well-being, which is why we feel fitter and more athletic in the second half of the cycle and want to go out more. Perhaps you’ve noticed in yourself that your hair, skin and whole being glows during this time? ☆
Good to know: As the eggs mature, your ovaries alternate. They do not follow a fixed schedule and alternate regularly in one woman and not in another. There are also people with one dominant ovary, which means that one produces more frequently than the other.
I love spring in nature… the smell of fresh greenery and the first flowers, the first rays of sun on the skin that melt away the winter frost, and the water droplets from the dew on plant leaves sparkling in the morning sun. How do you perceive spring in nature?
Similar to how it is in nature, the body also slowly builds up energy and we can feel the energy slowly returning in the “spring” phase of the cycle. We feel good, have the desire to be out & about and, thanks to the estrogen, we actually do radiate more.
This phase of time is under the sign of Virgo, the girl who sees the magic in everything. It stands for enthusiasm, hope, courage, boundlessness and encourages you to try things out. Perhaps you can feel how new ideas arise in you?
The hidden treasure of spring lies in new beginnings and trying things out.
It’s a phase of our cycle that many of us love – our strength returns, we feel full of energy and ideas just tumble out of us. This is exactly where the real challenge lies, because it’s not so easy to carefully manage your newfound power – to not blow it all on a sense of euphoria right at the start!
If we start right away, we may run out of energy by the end of the phase and feel depleted for the rest of the cycle. However, if we take nature as an example and carefully approach the rising energy, we can first plan new ideas and then implement them in the next step.
It can be helpful to let your ideas grow first and see how they feel. What does the idea do to you & for you? Maybe you feel like making a plan for it, collecting your ideas and structuring them.
So the energy that slowly grows inside you can last until the end of the cycle ♡
For some of us who menstruate, the hormones can be somewhat out of balance, and there are a wide variety of factors for this.
An example of this is “PCOS” (polycystic ovary syndrome). Symptoms include: missed periods, a very long period without ovulation, cysts on the ovary or an increased level of male hormones. Accompanying symptoms of PCOS can be acne, usually on the chin, severe body hair or hair loss on the head. If two of the symptoms mentioned apply, one speaks to PCOS.
If you feel that these points apply to you, talk to your gynecologist or alternative practitioner. There are now so many successful treatment options that we can fall back on.
To bring your hormones back into balance, you can already achieve a lot just with some small tricks.
A good start for this is, for example, the introduction of regular bedtimes, meals and relaxation phases. This way, your body can look forward to food intake, sleep, and relaxation between work, sports, and hectic schedules and develop a rhythm. This helps your body to prepare optimally for the absorption and processing of food & nutrients. In addition to regularity, make sure you get enough sleep, because sleep works wonders. It is not without reason that we like to talk about so-called “beauty sleep”.
Also, support your body by making sure to eat all the necessary building blocks for hormones (listed below); this will help your hormones do their job, such as detoxifying in the first half of the cycle and stimulating the endocrine glands in the second half.
You can do this, for example, with the Biocol Labs – Something For A Detox Week supplement or with teas. Below you will find two tea recipes from the Weaving Cycle Workshop.*
Detox tea: Stork’s beak herb 25g Dandelion root and herb 30g Goldenrod herb 25g Nettle leaves 20g Yarrow herb 20g Birch leaves 20g ————- 140g Dose 1 tsp per cup, drink 2-3 cups daily for 6 weeks

Even during this time, writing down your thoughts can help you achieve more clarity and structure. So here are a few suggestions. Are you in the spring cycle right now? Maybe you feel like grabbing your little book and pen and answering the following questions.

Writing has become a mode of expression for Nicola, a way to share her passion on wellness and sustainability topics with others. In 2018, she put it on her wishlist to publish something on the Amazingy blog. And it had to be personal – because she enjoys spreading hope through her own stories. That's how her first article about menstruation, "Letting it flow again," came about, followed by a second series of articles. She is often called upon by members of the Amazingy Team for her expertise on menstruation and mindfulness, always combined with her own experiences in a non-judgmental, loving and eye-level manner. As a sports and travel enthusiast, Nicola also has a great passion and love for nature, which is why she is enthusiastic about companies that design sustainability and product development in such a way that nature and humanity’s well-being are also taken into account.
