At the heart of the Absolution philosophy lies balance: restoring and preserving the skin’s natural ecosystem with carefully selected botanical ingredients and high-performance actives that work with the skin rather than against it. The result is a collection of products loved for their ability to support even sensitive and reactive skin — gently, effectively and without unnecessary complexity. From cult favourites such as L’Huile Addiction and Le Sérum Anti-Soif, Absolution has become a beloved staple for conscious beauty enthusiasts around the world. Perhaps because Isabelle’s vision for the brand remains as relevant today as ever: to encourage us to observe our skin, listen to it and treat it with kindness — because beauty, wellbeing and balance have always belonged together ♡
What is the essence of Absolution?
Absolution was born from a simple conviction : skincare should be effective, beautiful, and respectful — of both our skin and the living world around us.
From the very beginning, I wanted to create products that combine high-performance natural formulations, certified organic ingredients, and an integrative vision of beauty. For me, beauty is not about perfection ; it is about health, balance, vitality, and feeling comfortable in your own skin.
Absolution is where science, nature, wellbeing, and design meet.
What do you suggest to those just entering the world of natural / organic cosmetics?
Keep an open mind and don’t assume that natural skincare means compromising on efficacy or sensoriality.
The natural and organic beauty world has evolved tremendously over the last fifteen years. Today, some of the most innovative formulas are developed within this category. I would also encourage people to simplify their routine. A few well-formulated products, adapted to your skin’s needs, are often more beneficial than a long list of products pushed on instagram.
And most importantly: listen to your skin. It changes with the seasons, your age, your lifestyle, your stress levels, and your environment.
How has Absolution’s philosophy & vision changed over time? In what ways has the brand grown?
Well, our core philosophy hasn’t changed much.
What has evolved is our understanding of skin health and the growing connection between beauty, wellbeing, and longevity.
When we launched in 2009, we were already talking about the skin microbiome, and the impact of stress and moods on skin health — topics that have now become mainstream.
Today, we are increasingly interested in what I call “pro-ageing”: helping the skin remain healthy, resilient, and vibrant over time rather than fighting age itself.
As a company, we’ve grown in expertise, in distribution, and in our ability to formulate increasingly sophisticated products while remaining true to our values.
What has been one of the most helpful lessons/reminders throughout the development of your company?
Probably that growth should never come at the expense of identity.
There are always opportunities, trends, and shortcuts that can seem attractive. But every time we’ve stayed true to who we are, we’ve made the right decision.
Building a brand is a long-term journey. Consistency, authenticity, and patience matter more than chasing every trend.
Which Absolution product would you consider your “holy grail”?
That’s a difficult question — it’s a bit like choosing a favorite child!
But if I had to pick one, I would say Aura | Le Sérum du Temps.
One of the privileges of having created Absolution is that, for the past seventeen years, I’ve been able to develop the products I genuinely want and need for my own skin.
At this stage of my life, I wasn’t looking for yet another « anti-ageing » serum promising a single benefit. I wanted a truly comfortable, comprehensive serum that could support the skin in all its functions and address the different changes that naturally occur over time: wrinkles, loss of radiance, reduced firmness, changes in facial contours and the overall quality of the skin.
Aura was created with that ambition. It helps support the skin’s vitality, firmness and luminosity while respecting its natural balance. It delivers visible results, but in a way that feels harmonious and sustainable rather than corrective or aggressive.
To me, it perfectly embodies our vision of pro-ageing: helping the skin remain healthy, resilient and vibrant at every stage of life. Express the power of aging !
Where might you pull inspiration from when coming up with new ideas?
Everywhere.
As a naturopath, I am fascinated by physiology, longevity research, nutrition, and the emerging science around healthy ageing.
But inspiration also comes from art, architecture, travel, conversations, books, and observing how people live.
Innovation rarely happens by looking only within your own industry. Some of the most interesting ideas emerge from mix & matching different worlds.
Your pro-age range developed a lot in the last years, with La Crème Du Temps, Le Masque du Temps Redensifiant and now Aura | Le Sérum du Temps. What is your ideal routine with these products?
I like routines that are effective but realistic.
In the morning, I start with a spritz from La Brume Systémique, then I apply Aura | Le Sérum du Temps, followed by La Crème du Temps. Aura helps support firmness, radiance, and skin vitality, while the cream provides comfort and long-lasting protection throughout the day. On top of that I put La Crème du Teint, medium or tan, depending of the season, our foundation cream.
Two or three evenings a week, after cleaning with Le Baume Céleste + La Brume Systémique, I add Le Masque du Temps Redensifiant. I leave it all night long to find a plumped and revitalized skin on the morning.
Together, these products create a comprehensive routine that supports the skin’s natural capacity to regenerate and age beautifully.
Which other brands are standing on your bathroom shelf?
I am naturally curious, so I test many products.
To be honest, it’s difficult for me to use conventional skincare products these days. After years of working with certified organic formulas, I’ve become rather demanding when it comes to ingredients, sensoriality and overall skin performance.
I still test non-organic products from time to time, partly out of professional curiosity and partly to make sure we’re not missing anything. More often than not, it reassures me that organic skincare can be every bit as effective, luxurious and innovative as conventional beauty—if not more so.
I also keep a close eye on what is happening in the organic beauty world and regularly try products from brands that intrigue me. I think it’s important to stay curious and never assume you have all the answers.
In truth, it’s quite rare that I’m impressed by a competitor’s product—but it does happen, and when it does, I find it both annoying and exciting!
The funny consequence is that my bathroom is full of half-finished products. I test a lot, but in the end I almost always return to my own formulas. Not only because they are so effective and pleasant to use, but because they were created to meet my own needs in the first place! That’s probably the advantage of spending seventeen years developing the skincare you want to use every day.
In what ways does sustainability play a role in your overall process?
Sustainability has never been a marketing trend for us; it has been part of our DNA since day one.
We formulate with certified organic ingredients, work with responsible suppliers, prioritize recyclable packaging, and continuously seek ways to reduce our environmental footprint.
But sustainability is also about creating products that people genuinely finish and repurchase because they work. Producing less but better is perhaps one of the most sustainable approaches.
What lies in Absolution’s near future?
We are entering an exciting new chapter.
We want to deepen our expertise around pro-ageing, skin longevity, and overall wellbeing while remaining firmly rooted in our organic heritage.
I’m particularly interested in exploring the connections between skincare, lifestyle, and healthy ageing. The future of beauty will be increasingly holistic, personalized, and preventive.
Our ambition is not simply to help people look better, but to help them feel better in their skin at every stage of life.
Any final words you’d like to share with our readers?
Beauty should never be a source of pressure.
The most beautiful skin is not necessarily the youngest or the most perfect; it’s healthy skin that reflects vitality, confidence, and balance.
Take care of your skin, but also of your sleep, your food, your stress levels, your relationships, and your joy. Everything is connected.
That’s probably the most important beauty secret I know.
