Microcrystalline Wax, Microcristallina cera, Microcrystalline wax
Microcrystalline wax is derived from Petroleum. It goes through a thorough refining, deoiling, and purification process. The end result is a clean ingredient, often used in creams, lotions, mascaras, and pressed blushes.
It's elastic, flexible, and pretty dense, so it makes a good viscosity agent, binder and/or emollient. It's also a good water repellent material.
There is no mineral oil being used at any point of the microcrystalline wax production and it does not contain any traceable mineral oil since the end product is purified. Microcrystalline wax is considered very safe, however, it is not natural.
