Dimethicone
Dimethicone is a clear, non-reactive, liquid silicon that can vary in thickness from liquidy like water to a thicker gel. Dimethicone is used primarily in colour complexion cosmetics like foundation where it acts as a carrier for mineral pigments, which provide color and coverage. This way it creates a breathable, non-occlusive, flexible film allowing the inert mineral pigments to ride on the surface of the skin without caking, or falling into fine lines.
Dimethicone does not evaporate and stays on the skin for a long time.
Activated dimeticone is also used to treat babies who suffer from colic, because of it's defoaming properties.
When used in small amounts, we find this ingredient to be not bad for the skin.
