CI 15850, also known as Red 6 Lake or D&C Red No. 6 Barium Lake, is a synthetic colorant commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products. It is primarily used to impart red or pink hues to a variety of cosmetic formulations, including lipsticks, lip glosses, blushes, and nail polishes.
We are no fan of this ingredient, which is often derived from petroleum and/or coal tar. Safety depends on the usage and amount used. Should not be used around the eyes, because of an increased chance of absorption.
