Sonya Driver became consumed with finding a safe, sunless tanning alternative after her sister was diagnosed with melanoma at only 30 years of age. At the time, it wasn’t just that you couldn’t find a single organic self-tanning product on the market — Sonya also discovered the potential health risks in the usage of everyday cosmetic products. She wasn’t prepared to use these products on her own skin, and was even more wary of the risk they posed to her sister, given her cancer diagnosis. It was in these very moments that the idea for Eco by Sonya (known in some parts of the world as Eco Tan), her organically certified company, was born.
