Afrolocke

Afrolocke – Certified Natural Hair Care
Who is this brand for?
Afrolocke can take care of all your curly-headed needs. Afro hair & curls are unique, and they require special care.
What makes it Amazingy?
Afrolocke products contain rich oils like broccoli seed oil, argan oil & shea butter. Broccoli seed oil serves as a natural silicone substitute – it allows the hair to be combed more easily and is often used as a nourishing oil. Unlike with silicone, this oil has no build-up effect. Afrolocke is the first certified natural cosmetic hair care brand from Germany for afro & curly hair.
How will these products benefit you?
Using these products will improve comb-ability and strengthen any hair fibers that have become brittle & dry, providing the hair with plenty of moisture. Argan oil has a proven hair-strengthening effect, and shea butter gives the hair a lasting shine.
Is there a recommended hair care routine?
Oh yes, there is! Afro hair tends to be dry and is often harder to detangle – that’s why moisture is the “be-all, end-all” when it comes to curlier hair types. Here are the ultimate hair care tips from the Afrolocke team:
- Detangle & comb your hair only when it’s damp (with a coarse comb, detangler or with your fingers). This protects against hair breakage and pulling.
- Detangle the hair a bit before washing, e.g. with your leave-in product in a water spray bottle. A leave-in product is a conditioner that does not need to be washed out. Our own leave-in product will be available soon.
- Wash your hair with shampoo no more than once a week. If you need to wash your hair more often, use a conditioner.
- Instead of a towel, you can use an old t-shirt or microfiber towel. This helps keep the moisture in the hair.
- It's best to let your hair air-dry after using a leave-in conditioner. Heat leads to dry hair or split ends.
- If you’re looking for even more hair / curl definition: after using your leave-in product, braid or twist your hair into large braids and let your hair dry in the braids.
- Hair can become easily knotted overnight. Before you go to bed, braid your hair or tie your hair in a pineapple over your head. Very important: use a satin sheet, satin bedding or a satin sleeping cap – the smooth surface of the towel helps you retain moisture in the hair.
It might sound like a lot of work, but it quickly becomes routine and will definitely strengthen your hair.
A message from founder Anna & the Afrolocke Team:
"Love your curls! We all know what it’s like trying to find the right products and the right care routine... Sometimes they work perfectly, and sometimes they do exactly what you don't want them to do. But however it may be, the first step is actually to learn to love your hair in every one of its phases & structures. You & your hair are wonderful!" — Your Anna & your Afrolocke Team ♡
