Yummy Mummy is a recurring feature on Amazingy Magazine that serves to shine a spotlight on the supermoms who combine raising a family with their own career and life goals \u2014 and look great while they do it.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Our Yummy Mummy for the month of November is Miriam \u2013 a beautiful young mom with bright blue eyes. She told me about her job working in her own design office and shared her experience on becoming a mother. Her son Junis just recently turned two and curiously explored the future Amazingy store while his mom was getting her makeup done for the shoot. <\/em><\/p>\n

You and your boyfriend aren’t originally from Berlin. How did you end up here?<\/h2>\n

My partner was born in Zurich and I come from the city of Karlsruhe. After my studies, we were looking for a new place to move to. Berlin and Zurich were our two options and since Zurich is quite expensive, we decided on Berlin. In the beginning we wanted to stay here for two, maybe three years. Nine years later we are still here.<\/p>\n

You are both self employed and share an office. How does this work?<\/h2>\n

We both work in the same office for design. We create logos, business cards and websites. Niklas does illustrations and I work on designs and printed publications. We try to do everything ourselves, so that our own ideas are always part of design. But sometimes there is so much to do, that we employ some freelancers to help us out.<\/p>\n

We share one office, but work in separate rooms. Sometimes we work together on projects but in general we each have our own clients and jobs. I tend to be on the phone a lot. If we’d share the same room, he would probably by very annoyed by that.<\/p>\n

You gave birth to your son two years ago. How has this experience changed you?<\/h2>\n

Back then I passed on all of my tasks off to a colleague. But when you are self-employed, you cannot simply leave and expect everything to go smoothly without you, so it was still stressful for me. At the same time, you have this little human at home, who needs you. I had a c-section, so the birth itself was very traumatizing for me and Junis. He cried for the first three months nonstop. Luckily, he became calmer after a while.<\/p>\n

After nine months at home I came back to the office. Now Junis spends six hours every day at daycare and is a happy and balanced kid.<\/p>\n

How does a typical day in your life look like?<\/h2>\n

We all try to get up relatively early so we have enough time to enjoy breakfast. I can’t stand stress in the morning, which is why I am up by seven, even though daycare drop-off isn’t until nine. Junis really likes to have fruit and porridge in morning and I tend to make sure that everything he eats is organic and healthy. I was vegetarian before I got pregnant. Now I eat a bit of meat and fish every week. Due to ethical reasons I would like to stop eating meat as soon as I stop nursing Junis. The more you learn about the production of animal products, the more you realize how horrible it really is. I wanna go back to the veggie lifestyle, but would never force it onto Junis or Niklas. That is simply my decision. Besides, Junis loves hot dogs and sausages so much. He is too small to understand that he is eating an animal.<\/p>\n

You mostly keep organic products in your fridge. What can we find in your makeup bag that is organic and natural?<\/h2>\n

I really trust the app ‘codecheck’. I use it all the time. I want to know what’s inside a product before I use it. It is shocking what you can find in so many products you use everyday.
\nI was always interested in natural cosmetics. During my pregnancy, my skin went through a complete change. It used to be oily, now it is really dry. Which is why I currently use products that offer a lot of hydration. I also use lipstick pretty much every day. I used Amazingy’s sample service to find the right shades for me. My current favorite is ILIA’s lipstick in the shade Kokomo. I also love lip products by RMS and Gressa. Mascara is another staple of mine, since my lashes are super light. I also use the Soapwalla Deodorant Creme<\/a> and recently converted my mom to it too!<\/p>\n

To finish the look, we applied a sheer coat of Kjaer Weis Lipstick in the shade Believe<\/p><\/div>\n

Which products do you like to use for Junis?<\/h2>\n

Junis loves the toothpaste by Jack N\u2019 Jill. His favorite flavor is banana<\/a>. Oh, and he has his very own Konjac sponge<\/a>!<\/p>\n

What’s your Make-Up-Trick for all the busy moms out there?<\/h2>\n

Red lipstick! I started wearing it whenever I felt too exhausted to put a lot of makeup on, but red lips just make a huge difference! If you are feeling stressed, your kid is constantly screaming and the sun doesn’t show her face, put some color on your lips and you’ll instantly feel better!<\/p>\n
