So, we’re in the midst of the self-tanning season. It’s the healthier option than UV induced goldeness (that is, if you’re using natural products). Let’s imagine you happen to find yourself in a position where, perhaps, you didn\u2019t quite read the instructions on your self tanner too carefully or you left the product on for way too long or you simply somehow ended up looking like a freckled cow (been there, lots of times). Deep breath, do not worry. There is hope for you! <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I myself woke up this morning and thought\u2026hmmm\u2026why is my arm completely ORANGE? Well yeah, I tried out a new self tanner and left it on over night because I am lazy and I thought\u2026 what could go wrong? Well, leaving something on your skin for 10 hours instead of the recommended four can lead to results that might make you feel a little uncomfortable. Turns out, orange is not my color. So what should I do? <\/p>\n

I googled \u201cHow to get rid of your fake tan?\u201d and the first tip I found recommending putting rubbing alcohol on your skin\u2026ummm no freakin way am I going to burn away my epidermis. Is there any other way? There are certain tan removers on the market, but they also come at a very steep price. Luckily, I found some natural remedies and I want to share them with you. So if you ever find yourself in my position, you can grab something from your kitchen cabinet instead of some acetone. <\/p>\n

1. Buff away the streaks<\/h2>\n

Exfoliation might be the easiest and fastest way to get rid of the orange streaks. An exfoliating glove, like the one<\/a> from Eco by Sonya, not only removes dead skin cells but also leaves your skin polished and smooth. Your skin will feel amazing and you will feel a lot more confident. If a glove seems too harsh and you have sensitive skin, try a salt scrub. It does the same job but feels a little less harsh, especially on delicate areas like your chest and inner thighs. <\/p>\n

2. Baking Soda!<\/h2>\n

Yes, baking soda to the rescue! Mix it with a little bit of lemon juice and use this paste to draw the color from your skin. This paste is especially helpful if you just want to get rid of the stains on your feet or blend away harsh edges that can sometimes occur on your arms legs. Carefully rub it in to help lift the color. <\/p>\n

3. Take a hot Bath<\/h2>\n

If you just want to correct the overall tone of your fake tan, draw a nice hot bath and relax. The warm water will lighten up your tan quickly and plus you have an excuse to pamper yourself.
\nAfter you get out of the tub and your skin is still moist, slather on some body oil. The oil will also help to break up the pigments and will leave your skin nourished and less orange-y. <\/p>\n


\nIf you are new to self tanning, I always recommend Eco by Sonya\u2019s Winter Skin<\/a> or Face Tan Water<\/a>. Both products will gradually give you a bronzed glow and will never leave you with any nasty streaks.<\/strong><\/p>\n
