Kimberly Sayer\u2019s line of products are completely free of chemicals and are rooted in the knowledge of ancient pharmacists. Kimberly herself first got in touch with natural cosmetic making in her childhood, when she started to make mixtures together with her parents. Later on, she would turn this knowledge into an internationally successful company. Despite her great success, she is devoted to remaining true to her original principles and continues to use ingredients of the highest quality to produce her products: seaweed, shea butter from Uganda, pure essences, as well as natural antioxidants and high potency plant proteins. <\/strong><\/p>\n

While on the search for potent formulas, Kimberly studied under skin expert and famous aroma therapist Michael Winter at the renowned \u201eNeals Yard Beauty Therapy College\u201c. There she learned about the science behind the benefits of using skincare with only natural ingredients. After completing her studies, Kimberly worked as an organic aesthetician at spas in New York and London. Eventually, she would find a way to incorporate a plant-based pseudo collagen into her home-made anti-aging products.<\/p>\n

How did it all start? What made you interested in natural and organic cosmetics in the first place?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My passion for organic products began with my family in England.\u00a0 As the daughter of organic gardeners, me and my family used the vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs from our organic gardens to create skin and body care products for our own use.<\/p>\n

Why did you start your own brand? What was your calling?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Well, it wasn\u2019t intentional. I was head esthetican at Warren Tricomi, a well know spa in New York, and didn\u2019t want to use the chemical products they used there. So, I started blending and creating my own products to use on my clients. Because I was using fresh ingredients without any preservatives, I mixed them using a blender. It turned out that many of my clients wanted the concotions I was using in the spa to take home for personal use.<\/p>\n

You have worked with many celebrities \u2026 what did you learn from their needs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Celebrities have so much pressure on them to look young, attractive and beautiful\/handsome. So they constantly have to look their best. Therefore, they need a product\/s that they can rely on to give them that. I also learnt how hard it is to be them with constant intrusion by paparazzi etc.<\/p>\n

My products are also manufactured under ECOCERT requirements to make sure that the extraction and production yield maximum benefits, especially on a cellular level. Could you give me a glimpse behind the scenes: What does a day in your life look like? Do you work in the lab as well and get your hands dirty, or are you more of a behind the scenes person, taking care of marketing and such? Or both?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gosh, well the truth is I am a bit of a control freak over my products and tend to be very hands on with production. I \u00a0also really enjoy working with my clients. I\u2018m pretty much a people person so I like the relationships I have developed. I also do sales and marketing, so my days are pretty busy. Each day can \u00a0be very different which I love, so I tend to have a list of things to do and get them done that way.<\/p>\n

How do you manage your work-life-balance? After all, owning a company can be challenging to manage. What do you do to unwind and relax?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thats the biggest challenge to be honest. I have to intentionally book my time out for my own personal life. I actually love to go to the spa to relax. I love massages and need them regularly. I love to hike and be in nature and spending time with family and friends always makes me happy.<\/p>\n

What is the best advice you can offer anyone looking to transition from conventional cosmetics to natural and organic products?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Always, always READ INGREDIENTS! You have to be 100% sure that when a company tells you they are organic they are really organic. NATURAL is NOT ORGANIC. Please do some homework on ingredients, and if possible on the company you are\u00a0purchasing\u00a0from. Know their philosophy and if they are really knowledgeable about ingredients and skin.<\/p>\n

Any pro-tips for people with sensitive skin or allergy prone skin, and what to do \/ what not to do?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, I have sensitive skin so I can really relate to that experience. What I can say is that you should really be careful what ingredients you use for which things. For, example, ingredients that can combat oil can sometimes irritate your skin. So, know which ingredients are gentle on the skin and use those if possible. If you have allergy prone skin, make sure you use products that are made very well and use quality ingredients so that you will not have allergic responses to inexpensive ingredients such as emulsifiers (ingredients used to bind water to say and oil etc.).<\/p>\n

What’s coming up for Kimberly Sayer? Any goals, aspirations, or new products in the pipeline?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We\u2019re working on some back bar professional products for spas right now and possibly a facial oil\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Could you describe your own daily beauty routine?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I definitely practice what I preach. I always cleanse, tone, moisturize 2x day and at night I use a night cream. I use eyegel at least twice a day. I already used 2x today and its only 1.45pm. I like to exfoliate at least 3x week and leave the scrub on my face a good 30-40 minutes to let the grains soak deeply into the surface of my skin. This allows it to take off the dry dead skin cells and it allows the moisturizing ingredients to nourish my skin, especially in the winter months. I use the mask at least once a week.<\/p>\n

What\u2018s you favorite product?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Gosh, that\u2019s too hard to say. Probably the Cellular Extract Eyelift Gel but I love them all to be honest.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the one question that never gets asked, but that you\u2019d really like to give an answer to?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Perhaps: why do small business care so much for what they do?
