Ingy and Floris, the Pink Weekends first started in November 2018 and have been recurring every year ever since. How did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Ingy: We wanted to do something different than Black Friday, because that’s what we always do at Amazingy – we like doing things differently ?
Floris: For many years customers kept asking if we would offer something nice for Black Friday, but we didn’t want to really go along with the American madness … customers kept asking though, so then we came up with the idea to offer deals the whole month of November instead of during just one weekend.
The downside is of course that people sometimes then order multiple times in one month, meaning more shipping costs and packing work for us, but 2 years ago we did all the deals in one weekend, and this was so overwhelming for everyone involved, as well as for our customers, that we went back to spreading the deals out over a month. And we still do this.
By the way, to participating customers who order in multiple weeks, I just want to say: feel free to let us know if we can ship everything at once. That way it’s less harmful to the environment and more exciting to you ?
Out of curiosity: why did you choose the color pink and not green as a symbol then? ?
Ingy: I love pink! It’s a positive, vibrant color and it represents Amazingy – we think and act green but pink is how we celebrate, and isn’t this a special occasion?!
Floris: To take over the Black Friday term was not an option for us, and the term Cyber Monday has of course nothing to do with our store, so I came up with Pink Friday & Makeup Monday, which after 1 or 2 years simply became the Pink Weekends because we started to have the same deals all weekend instead of having different deals during the weekend and on Monday.
What an amazing(y) idea! For the people that have just now been introduced to the whole concept – how does it work?
Ingy: Each Pink Weekend starts every November weekend from midnight Thursday/Friday to midnight Monday. It’s our only really big sale of the year and we hope to accommodate everyone – maybe to try something new but more importantly to buy your favorites at a cheaper price, leaving more money for the expensive month of December ?
Thanks for sharing your vision and spreading the message! Any last comment before we fully dedicate ourselves to the Pink Weekends? ?
Floris: Sustainability is priority at Amazingy; we don’t want people to order things they don’t need, we see the Pink Weekends as a nice gesture and the possibility to buy our products at a better price. We also send out a “Pink Newsletter” every year that informs our customers about the deals we have, listing the dates with the respective participating brands and their products, so they can decide consciously on what to order and what not. Our advice always stays: don’t order stuff you don’t need! ?
