Sensitive and irritated skin can appear in many different forms: redness, pimples, dry and flaky patches to itchy or even painful inflammation. And the causes are as varied as the symptoms: allergies, hormones, psychological stress, improper diet, etc…
With regard to the alleviation and reduction of these symptoms, but also as potential steps in a daily skincare routine particularly suited for sensitive skin, I would like to introduce you to 10 of my favorite products, those with which my skin and I have had only good experiences ☆
I have often written about TocoCare, especially raving about their Akut product – it is and remains my first choice for troubled skin. Whether for inflammation, redness, scars, sunburn, rough skin or insect bites, this miracle oil simply always helps. A pure oil full of provitamin A and vitamins C + K, which can help to gently heal most skin problems, including acne, eczema, scars and/or hyperpigmentation. I prefer to apply it only selectively to affected areas. It is also very effective so you only need a few drops! For the skin’s daily vitamin E needs, TocoCare’s Elixir is a good choice. It also contains the vitamin E complex, in lesser quantities, but it’s enriched with other valuable ingredients.
A super gentle cream cleanser. It is alcohol-free (denat.) and also free from other irritating ingredients, making it especially recommended for rosacea. It can be removed very gently with the muslin cloth it comes with. And it removes makeup effortlessly, even on the eyes, without irritating them – even when wearing contact lenses. In summer the cleanser is soothing and cooling, and even in wintertime my skin feels nice and soft!
The Abloom Soothing Lotion has been a big part of calming the inflammation (from eczema) on my face. This cooling liquid – packed with antiseptic, anti-inflammatory botanicals and herbs – works wonders. Also, any time the inflammation was causing my skin to break open, I gently dabbed the area(s) with the Soothing Lotion (beware this burns at first, but quickly passes). This way the skin didn’t get infected, could regenerate in peace and – very important – the terrible itching was relieved. It also helps with sunburn, or irritated skin after shaving – and is very helpful for deep, inflamed pimples.
Tip: If you add 2 drops of the TocoCare AKUT, you get a great serum.
This toner is like a good morning kiss to my skin. The fresh, slightly tart scent awakens the senses and the ingredients – such as hyaluronic acid and probiotic Lactobacillus stem – moisturize, soothe and normalise the skin’s microbiome. The perfect start to a new day.
A pure oil full of provitamin A and vitamins C + K, which so wonderfully & gently helps to heal all sorts of skin problems, whether acne, eczema, scars or hyperpigmentation. I would always use it 3x in a row in the evening and then pause for 2 days. It gives you such a beautiful complexion.
I tried this much-loved serum just the other day. I didn’t think it would show results so quickly. I’ve always dealt with flushed cheeks – triggered by heat, cold, food that’s too spicy or too hot, nervousness, etc. – and I’ve simply come to terms with it. I was all the more pleased to see some relief from that redness after the first application of Couperose Serum. It is almost odorless and also pleasantly gentle on the skin. It feels very rich, as well. With regular use, the vascular walls of my skin became strengthened and thus severe redness could be avoided. Of course, since each person’s skin is different and reacts to different stimuli, you should also try to avoid or reduce any external aggravators to achieve the best results.
A wonderfully cooling and soothing serum that I especially like to apply in the summer. Especially in the evening after a long day in the sun. It contains Schisandra, which helps to calm the skin and reduces redness quickly. This is a good choice if you’re looking for an immediate effect.
This 2-week treatment from Absolution provides immediate help for acute skin problems like itching, inflammation and severe redness. You get one ampoule to split between morning and evening. At first I was a little hesitant about how to divide up the little ampoule, but you quickly realize there’s more in there than expected. One good squeeze per application dispenses the right amount. The serum is cooling and gives immediate relief. It is easy to spread and massage into the skin. If your skin spontaneously acts out, this serum is a great way to tame it again.
When I want to treat my skin to something special, I usually reach for this luxurious mask. Completely black due to the volcanic ash it contains, it not only looks unique, but it also cools the skin immediately after application. Volcanic ash & honey provide a deep cleanse, remove dead skin and even help with inflammation, eczema and psoriasis.
At least once a week, I use this scrub in the morning – I like to keep it in my shower. I place a bit of the delicious chocolate-scented powder in the palm of my hand and add just a few drops of water. I then massage my face with the paste and gently remove any dead skin. The clay it contains helps with healing the skin, whereas all that vitamin C gives you a glowing complexion. Afterwards, I feel fresh and ready for the day!
And last but not least: in order to support the skin’s natural regenerative processes from within – and to keep it healthy, in general – it is very important to ensure healthy intestines. The skin and intestines are linked together in this way 🙂
The Love Your Gut – Daily Biotic Complex from Ogaenics is the perfect supplement to support the gut’s microbiome, and it will help give your skin back its natural glow ☆
