Make-Me-Up: The “In Living Coral” Look

“Living Coral” – the Pantone Color of 2019 – has received a lot of controversy. And we think that the lovely Nath of beautycalypse summed up the problem pretty well: if each of us manages to keep ourselves educated & aware, Mother Earth will thank us kindly in turn. At Amazingy we stand for color – the brighter, the better. We suggest colors like ILIA Beauty’s Shell Shock or Absolution’s Papaya to our customers non-stop. The simplest accent of color can immediately lift our mood and put a smile on our face.

As such, we’ve used this colorful occasion to show off another of our daring (but wearable) looks. Our in-house MUA Svenja let off some steam, and here’s the result…

Our lovely colleague Kate needed a fresh look after Karneval weekend, one that could make her worn out skin shine again – and what better way to do that than with this IN LIVING CORAL LOOK?

To prep the skin perfectly, I first applied ILIA Beauty‘s new True Skin Radiant Priming Serum. It makes the skin taut, gives it a soft glow, and creates a smoother surface for the foundation – in this case, the True Skin Serum Foundation in 3.5 Corsica (also from ILIA Beauty). And since it works so well, we’ll stay in the ILIA family and use one of their new True Skin Serum Concealer in 2C Yucca (a very light shade with neutral-cool undertones). I apply all three products gently with my finger – and the complexion is completely evened out.

Next up is the eyes: here I also used a great ILIA product as the base – their On & On Brightening Eye Primer. It has a very practical applicator, so using it is a cinch; this will make sure that the eye shadow doesn’t settle into the eye crease (working as a replacement for foundation & powder). I let it dry for a bit, and then I continued with one of HIRO Multisticks in The Afterhour (the first coral shade for the look). The multisticks from HIRO Cosmetics have a “from cream to powder”-type of consistency, which you can apply easily with a brush onto the eyelid. Coral and peach shades liven the eyes and serve as an simple trick to give your face a fresher appearance. To break up the monochrome look, I decided to use a colored eyeliner – a likewise cheerful color, turquoise. I used one of HIRO’s Mineral Eyeshadow in Menthe Elle, mixed with water and applied with their Angled Liner Brush. This simple stroke turns the look into a real eye-catcher – perfect for a night out.

The cheeks are draped with the new ILIA Multistick in Dreamer (a muted coral). And the lips get another new color from ILIA – a light touch of mauve, in the form of ILIA’s Tinted Lip Conditioner in Forever. It rounds off this wonderfully fresh & cheeky look – without being too pushy 😉
