To even out her complexion, I chose rms Beauty’s “Un” Cover-up. It’s easy to apply with your fingers and really comes in handy – inside a small jar that’ll easily fit in your pocket, so you can freshen up your look on-the-go, anytime. It performs well as both a foundation and as a concealer.
Trang’s undertone is naturally olive with a light tan on her forehead and cheeks, giving those areas of her face a warmer tone. This is why I chose the shades #33 and #44 and blended them together. In some spots, I also applied rms Beauty’s Tinted “Un” Powder 2 & 3 for a more matte finish. Using HIRO’s Multisticks Eve by Day (as a highlighter) and The Afterhour (as rouge) gives Trang’s face a subtle freshness.
For the eye shadow, I first applied the shade Charmed from Kjaer Weis, and then I added a bit more depth to the eyelid crease using the shade Generosity (also from Kjaer Weis). I used that same shade to create a soft shadow beneath the eye, then topping it off by drawing a fine line across the eyelid using the Vintage Cake Liner by rms Beauty and retracing the eyebrows with HIRO’s Wow Brow Pomade in Dark. This eye makeup suits Trang perfectly, with or without her stylish glasses.
To soften the look a bit more, I apply two products from Kjaer Weis to her lips: the Lip Pencil in the shade Rose, and the Lip Gloss in the shade Treasure. If it gets too glossy, dab the lips lightly with a tissue. And with that, this timeless COSMOPOLITAN LOOK is complete.

J. R. Thesis Smith is a mixed-race millenial in the dawn of their 30s & a wordsmith of sorts. They've spent most of their waking life in the U.S. – in the urban sprawl of NYC that is New Jersey, in the depths of its suburban echoes – but always dreamed of making their way across a bigger pond, to a place where opportunity would knock a little more often. After completing their training at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts (effectively spending three poor years in NYC) as a dance major, they gifted themselves a semester of studying abroad in Berlin, and in doing so kept a vow made in early adolescence – thereby inciting a metamorphosis of promise into full-bodied intention: to eventually fully emigrate to Berlin, the first space that had ever allowed them the freedom to find their own breath, their pace of existence. Now that they finally live there, they're learning how to breathe again – striving to become a more active member of the Undercommons as they continue on the odyssey that is their self-realization as an artistic being. Their most resonant hope is that they will be able to say what is true & necessary & kind; that people will find the time to listen, to themselves and each other; and that their voice will inspire other voices to speak out in turn.
