Livebuild — Charity Project Finished!

There is not much, or anything actually, that makes us happier than seeing progress on our charity projects. And today, we got some wonderful news from the people at Livebuild, including photos of the toilets they are building with the donations that have come in from Amazingy. So what’s this all about, you ask?

The children of Mbah used to have very bad classrooms, with 60 kids per classroom easily. Most of the time, multiple classes were put together in one room! Can you imagine the confusion?
The kids had to use an old toilet adjacent to the school, which was operating under terrible hygienic conditions. Clean water, even to wash their hands with, was not available to them.
But with the support of Amazingy, the parents, teachers and other community members, Livebuild is now constructing a new building to be used as the bathroom. It will contain a system to collect rainwater, which can be used for cleaning purposes — and of course to wash hands.
On top of building the toilets and other sanitary facilities, the project will carry out the following actions:
  • fortification and finishing of the current structure
  • construction of three extra classrooms, an office, a reception and a storage area
  • the KforC textbook programme
  • proficiency-building among teachers for improved didactic skills
  • trainings and seminars in the subject areas of HIV/Aids, sanitation and malaria

Livebuild charity logoLivebuild is a small Dutch organization that supports local water and education projects in Cameroon. LiveBuild supports local communities and organizations in setting up their own projects because they believe that people in Cameroon are able to realize their own development. LiveBuild only supports local communities and organizations with knowledge and funding, while they run their own project. Currently, LiveBuild supports the community of Mbah – a small village in the Northwest region of Cameroon – with the construction of three new school classrooms and the renovation of the existing classrooms. While the funding for the classrooms is required, the students at GS Mbah also need drinking water and good quality toilets. The €1250,- Amazingy donated to LiveBuild helped us tremendously in supplying the school in Mbah with the much needed toilets and access to safe drinking water via a water tap.
