How To Cleanse Your Skin & Face with the Konjac Sponge

Amorphophallus Konjac Plant

Konjac plant

Amorphophallus konjac, or the “Konjac potato”, is a perennial plant, native to Asia and sometimes known as Konnyaku. Konjac potatoes are cultivated for food in Japan & Korea, but wild forms grow naturally in many parts of China, Korea & Japan – often growing wild at a very high altitude, thus being very pure & pollutant free.

Some cultures have been eating Konjac for over 1500 years. It was originally introduced to Japan as a medicine in the 6th century, as it was already recognized for its health-benefiting properties way back then. It is used frequently as a thickener and jelly, and it is often present in noodles! It is also a totally natural food source: 97% of the Konjac potato is water and 3% is Glucomannan, or dietary fiber. It is also rich in minerals and very low in calories. However, the sponges should never be put in the mouth!

But for over a century, the Konjac potato has also been used as a beauty treatment for delicate skin. And the YouTube channel katieandsophiebeauty did a great review on the fabulous Konjac Sponge… Enjoy!

Amorphophallus konjac is an alkaline, loaded with goodness. It contains so many natural benefits – protein, carbohydrates, iron, phosphorus, copper, zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, E, and folic acid! No wonder people have been eating it and using it on their skin for such a long time! The unique net-like structure of the sponge gently massages the skin and stimulates blood flow and new growth of skin cells. Leaving the skin extremely clean & refreshed – naturally!
