HIRO x Aennikin DIY Smokey Eye Workshop

December Throwback: A nice look back at the last event of the past year!

Last December, HIRO Cosmetics and makeup artist Annika Noack, known as Aennikin, hosted a smokey eye workshop in which various makeup skills, tips & tricks were shared – alongside plenty of laughter ♡

The workshop took place just a few meters away from our headquarters, in the cosy QG – Café Français. We would like to take this opportunity to thank their team for making their premises available to us for another event, the second one so far!

Thanks to the space available, we were able to host 12 participants, including both beginners and those more advanced, all with the same mission: Do-It-Yourself.
The introductory round started with a champagne reception and a short get-to-know-you session. HIRO founder Ingy herself introduced everyone to the brand. This was followed by some basics about the smokey eye, as Aennikin answered some of the participants’ questions about the classic makeup look directly. The remaining questions were mostly answered by themselves – learning by doing ? Of course, our experts were always on hand to help. Most importantly: have the courage! Anyone can do makeup and rock a smokey eye – if it doesn’t work straight away or doesn’t look the way you want it to, simply remove your makeup and try again. The main thing is that you have fun!

The participants had a selection of different products and could put together their own eyeshadow combinations, choosing 3 shades, e.g. the HIRO Pressed Eyeshadow in 808, Synchronise & B2B. There was also a HIRO Palette made available, along with all the tools needed to bring the smokey eye to life.

HIRO x Aennikin DIY Smokey Eyes Workshop

For those who weren’t there but would’ve liked to take part and would like to try it out at home (or perhaps organize a magical Smokey Eye evening with their friends), here are the complete makeup instructions for the whole face, step-by-step from our video shoot with Aennikin & Diana, who took these stunning portraits of Chrissy and her smokey eye look! But be careful: you might end up in a getting-ready-to-party kinda mood (if you’re not already there) ?

  1. apply Eye Pencil in Pitch to your waterline
  2. blend the Eye Pencil on the lash line with HIRO Brush 2.00
  3. apply Eye Pencil in Cadenza to the lid and blend it into the crease at the top of the lid
  4. apply Pressed Eyeshadow in Synchronise to the lid and blend it in
  5. now apply Cadenza to your lower lash line, follow with Synchronise and blend both out
  6. apply Bada Boom Mascara (several times for a stronger effect)
  7. apply Pressed Eyeshadow in 808 to the inner corner of the eye and then blend or work it carefully into the eyelid
  8. for a more intense look, you can go over it again with Pitch
  9. apply your shade match of HIRO’s No Doubt Natural Foundation (here a mix of Daniels, Talmadge & Fitzgerald)
  10. then apply the matching Space Balm Concealer / Space Balm Corrector (here Thalleah)
  11. powder off with the matching No Doubt Mineral Foundation (here Cream Dream)
  12. fill in your eyebrows with Wow Brow Eyebrow Pomade (here Medium to imitate the hair, and then Dark to define the lower part and create contrast)
  13. apply a Multistick Bronzer from back to front
  14. apply a Multistick Blush from the front to the back
  15. if you like it glowy, apply a highlighter (here Velocity) under the eyebrows
  16. last but not least, apply the lipstick that matches your occasion / mood (here Psssst)

Chrissy Smokey Eye Model #2

Your smokey eye is ready, YAY!!! And, did you get into the mood? We hope you’re just as happy as all the workshop participants were – who, by the way, gave their smokey eye experience in the field afterwards and went on to have a fun night out together!

A big THANK YOU to Aennikin for her commitment & mentoring, to Chrissy & Ingy for organising this event and making it happen, and to all the amazing(y) participants who made the workshop so wonderful and created such a great atmosphere!

We are very much looking forward to the next one <3
