The face: a map to the body’s health

Each of us have an individual finger print, eye pattern and composition of our body; all these features are completely unique to each and every one of us. No two people are the same. All lines and pimples that appear on our face are equally individual to us. It is this unique point that can potentially show us what our personal health problems are.

Much like in reflexology, where the soles of our feet resemble different parts of our body, our face does the same and is the map to our health. Observing where pimples and lines appear on your face can help identify specific issues in the body, and by correcting these issues you are able to attain good health and an overall clear complexion.

T-zone represents digestion

It’s common to see worry lines in the foreheads of people, and it’s interesting to note these lines,  since worry and fatigue contribute to most underlying factors of digestive disorders. It’s also a popular place where blemishes and pimples arise.

You can easily improve your digestion the following ways:

  1. Chewing all your food: This mechanical process produces chemicals which will help with digestion and absorption through the entire digestion procedure.
  2. Increase digestive acid: mix 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice in a glass of warm water and drink first thing in the morning or 20 minutes before eating.
  3. Eat plenty of fibre: Fruit and vegetables as well as nuts, grains and seeds will get things moving in your bowels.

Between the eyebrows represents liver

Some people have one or two distinctive deep crease between the brow – a sign for a destressed liver! Stress on the liver can be from foods that are a difficult to metabolize, like alcohol, foods high in fat and deep fried foods. Another common culprit is Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), which is used in many food as a flavour enhancer, as well as artificial sweeteners, colours and flavouring. Avoiding food containing the above, may alleviate stress on the liver.

Tip of the nose represents the heart

This tip of the nose is full of capillaries (tiny red blood vessels), and this can reflect the state of the heart and circulation. To help keep a healthy heart, taking care of having a steady blood pressure, cholesterol and managing a healthy weight is required – and can be achieved – through the diet. You can start with reducing refined salt, trans fat and high sugar intake, and increasing healthy fats into your diet, such as fats found in fish, nuts and seeds, as well as antioxidant rich foods found in colourful fruits and vegetables. Last but not least, creating as much enjoyment in your life as possible, ensures emotional heart health to thrive.

Nostrils (and nostril creases) represent lungs

Inhaling smoke, exhaust and city pollution can add up to the congestion in the lungs. Enjoy as much fresh air as you can, and improve lung function by using a steam inhalations.

Under the eyes represents kidneys and adrenal function

You may notice every now and then blue puffy rings appearing under the eyes; this can show poor kidney function. The more defined, dark rings indicates adrenal exhaustion, which is caused by fatigue or stress over a long period of time.
You can improve kidney health by insuring adequate intake of fluids, and avoiding excessive amounts of salt and caffeine. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) fear and anxiety are connected to the kidneys, so it might be worth while addressing some underlaying emotions.
Adrenal health can be improved by implementing a stress management regime, as well as ensuring a well rested sleep, every night.

Chin represents hormonal balance and reproductive system

Pimples that appear around the mouth and chin can be indicting hormonal disruption; this could have to do with monthly menstruation or libido. Hormones can often be tricky and hard to treat, There are hormone balancing herbs that can be helpful in this area, but is advised to consult a health care professional.

Mouth represents stomach & immunity

The mouth is the start of the digestive tract and can reflect how your digestions functions. Bad breath or heartburn indicate an over production of acid in the stomach. Mouth ulcers and inflammation in and round the mouth shows us that there is no only a weakened digestibility, but also our immune system is low. The first line of our immune defense is our tonsils, and if you notice they are red and swollen, then you need to start taking it easy, and support immune recovery.

If you keep this map of your face in mind, you’ll be able to use your lines and pimples as a way to decode a deeper understanding of what’s happening in your body, below the surface. Use what appears on your face as signals of something you need to address and don’t just treat the surface.

Thank you so much this!! I knew about some zones but most of them i was missing.
I do not have wrinkles (yet!!) or acne but i start having black heads time to time in my nose when i eat something with refined sugar ( ice cream…even organic, candies). Drinking lemon water helped me a lot, along with baking soda, and lemon juice mask!! Do it!! Works great:)

Kisses
