The blue tansy plant (in German “Blauer Rainfarn”) achieves its full potential as a miracle ingredient in the form of an essential oil, whereby the flowers undergo steam distillation. Due to the high amount of chamazulene in its tiny flowers, the beautiful deep blue – almost sapphire blue – color develops. Native to Morocco, the delicate blue tansy plant belongs to the chamomile family; thus it gets the nickname “Moroccan Chamomile”.
And the scent captivates you even before application: the essential oil derived from blue tansy is said to have many aromatherapeutic benefits – all of which I can only wholeheartedly agree with. Nothing can relax me as immediately as its wonderfully warm, herbal scent. My first encounter with this rare & highly effective ingredient was during my very first week at Amazingy – in the form of May Lindstrom Skin’s little blue wonder…
Blue tansy is one of the most difficult to procure ingredients I incorporate into my formulas, and one of the most often adulterated. While a quick Google search will turn up many outlets that offer “blue tansy” for sale, lab testing will verify that many readily available sources are cut with chamomile and colored with dyes – none of this listed in the ingredients labeling, and often unbeknownst to even those selling or developing products with it.Much goes on in the steps between the harvesting farms, multiple middle-men and brokers, and the final consumer – particularly with the most expensive exotic oils, such as this. Adulteration and misrepresentation is a troubling and prolific part of this industry, and one we dedicate vast efforts and resources to overcome. We have been working tirelessly over the years to secure our relationships with incredible farms who grow and harvest this powerful plant for us at the highest level of potency and efficacy and who can ensure each season that we are delivered only the purest, safest, and most effective and authentic extraction of true blue tansy (tanacetum annuum) on the planet. — May Lindstrom

May Lindstrom Skin – The Blue Cocoon
May Lindstrom was one of the first in the beauty industry to use blue tansy in their skin care products. This dream of a balm melts deep into your skin, working wonders until both your skin & you are happy again.
NINI Organics – Halo Cleansing Elixir
An everyday cleansing oil to help regulate oil production, soothe inflamed skin and brighten the complexion for a fresh dewy finish.
Kahina Giving Beauty – Lip & Face Balm
The blue tansy it contains is harvested by a collective of women based in Morocco. This very rich balm not only has a nourishing effect; it is also anti-inflammatory. And since it contains mango & shea butter, it is ideal for normal and especially dry skin. For combination skin or oily skin, I would only apply it to the most affected areas / dry patches.
Josh Rosebrook – Advanced Hydration Mask
Helps the skin retain moisture, makes it plump, and improves skin circulation – protecting and supporting healthy dermal function and slowing down skin maturity.
Absolution – Le Baume Céleste
This gel cleanser transforms into an oil when massaged onto the skin for easy makeup removal, and I also use it on the eyes without any irritation. Jam-packed with blue tansy, its delightful smell will calm my racing mind and bring me into a light meditative state before bed.
RAAW by Trice – Blue Beauty Drops
A nourishing facial oil full of vital antioxidants and vitamins with rejuvenating and soothing powers.
