Facial masks are a great thing. Especially during the season change, when our skin can greatly benefit from a little bit of extra care. It is therefore advisable to indulge in a weekly Sunday-Spa-Day; let your mind wonder, apply a facial mask and enjoy a hot bath.

Facial masks made off natural ingredients can be easily created with ingredients you can find in your own kitchen. Here are some easy-to-do recipes for the most common skin types & skin conditions.

All ingredients should be mixed in a ratio that allows the mask to be easily applied with your finger or a brush to the skin. After application, let the mask sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off again. All masks are well-tolerated and can – unlike harsh exfoliating masks or peelings – be applied as often as your skin is thirsty, feels dry or dull.

For oily skin:

  • 2 tsp. of clay (for external use, available in every drugstore)
  • ½ teaspoon of water or green tea (works as an anti-oxidant)

Against large pores:

  • 1 tbsp. of quark (curd cheese)
  • A few drops of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar (acid has an antibacterial effect and refines pores)

For normal skin:

  • 1 tbsp. of yogurt (moisturizing)
  • 1 tbsp. of Manuka honey (works for a multitude of skin problems!)

For dry skin:

  • 1 tbsp. of avocado (moisturizing and rich in vitamins)
  • 1 tbsp. of yogurt

After having the mask sit for 10-15 minutes, remove it with a muslin cloth or a Konjac Sponge. This provides an additional gentle peeling effect. Afterwards, apply a moisturizing cream or even better; massage a few drops of a nourishing oil into the damp skin. Rosehip oil is a great oil to use in the evening before bed time, Argan oil is a better choice if you’ve applied the mask during the day.

Have fun mixing!
