For those of you suffering with sensitive skin, a normal scrub might be too rough on your delicate skin. While a sugar scrub works wonders on dry winter skin, an intense exfoliation can bring out the worst of red and irritated skin.
Although we have already explained to you the magical silky-smooth skin effects produced by a coffee peel, that particular mixture lacks a moisturizing effect.
WANTED: a gentle scrub for the face FOUND: an oatmeal scrub with chamomile and cinnamon.
Chamomile has a very soothing effect, while cinnamon provides the skin with antioxidants. The ingredients of this peel are especially great when it comes to adding moisture to the skin.
For those with very dry skin, the chamomile tea can also be substituted with milk or yogurt. If your skin is very sensitive, first test if you react strongly to the spice by smearing a bit of it on your wrist or inside the elbow. If you’re unsure of your skin’s reaction, just leave cinnamon out of the recipe, as the oats do the actual peeling anyway.
Measure a small cup of oatmeal and mix in a food processor until it is a flour-like consistency. In the meantime, brew a cup of chamomile tea. Once the tea has steeped for a couple of minutes, add 1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon to the tea and then add the whole mixture to the oatmeal. It should have a pasty appearance. If so, apply the mixture to your face, neck, and décolletage.
Massage the mixture into your skin and after it sets in, remove the peel with a muslin cloth or washcloth. When desired, the peel can also be left on for as long as 20 minutes. Your skin will be thankful for the rosy cheeks and fresh glow afterwards.
