What do you get when you combine PRTTY Peaushun, rms Beauty, Hiro Cosmetics make-up, Berlin’s very own Crystalmafia, and Sado Opera? That’s right — glittery mayhem caught on camera, flashy dramatic colors, and a little thing we like to call glamour.
Crystalmafia is a creative agency focusing on live performances, set design, installations, videography, and photography. They’ve been in the game for 12 years now and, with this photoshoot, their goal was to show that natural and organic make-up can also work wonders for theatric endeavours. Sado Opera, the muses for this particular photographic endeavor, is an electro punk cabaret group, known for their extreme on-stage looks.
Products used: RMS Lip2Cheek and NCLA Nail Wraps.
Inspired by Sado Opera’s face paint, Crystalmafia decided to re-create their look with make-up that is less harsh on the skin compared to your average stage make-up. That’s where RMS and Hiro come into the picture.
Products used: RMS Lip2Cheek, HIRO, NCLA Nail Wraps and Prtty Peaushun.
Crystalmafia applied all the make-up themselves, using only their hands and fingertips as tools. The hands-only technique they used makes it especially easy to follow their example in the event that you require a special look for a wild night on the town. Here are a few tips from Kieran from Crystalmafia to achieve certain effects:
For the first set of images, we warmed up the RMS colors in our palms before dabbing it on with fingertips. We love this layered wet look; the warming up of the eye-cream made it possible for it to really get into the creases of the eyes and feel like paint. The pigments in the middle photos were also dabbed on with only using fingertips. In addition, I scooped out some of the pigment into the palm of my hand and blew it softly on her (Katya’s) face. I love it when the pigments combine and the powder settles in certain shapes on the face, as it creates a wonderful artistic look.

Csilla is a huge book nerd, and would talk your ear off about her favourite author for hours if you let her. Even though she works with online media, she secretly longs for the days when people spent time reading real books and real magazines printed on real paper instead of staring at various screens all day. But technological development stops for no one, so instead of fighting it, she decided to embrace the whole thing: she's now a published author on multiple websites, owns a Kindle named Jinx (after her favorite drag queen), and can frequently be seen bumping into trashcans, people and traffic lights around Berlin, reading and walking at the same time.
