Why You Should Break Up With Your Cleansing Wipes

Cleansing wipes used to be my best friend. This was simply because I am lazy and there are nights where I just cannot be bothered to take off my makeup. This is where wipes always came in handy because I felt like I was efficiently cleansing my skin and giving it time to breath at night. I actually enjoyed using them because some of them proclaimed to fight hyper-pigmentation, breakouts and dull skin. I felt like I couldn’t go wrong with a quick swipe across my face before jumping into bed. Well I can tell you now that a cleansing wipe, no matter how fancy it is, will never replace a good and thorough cleanse.

They actually cause wrinkles and skin damage

Having tested a lot of different kind of wipes, most of them actually take quite a bit of force to take off makeup, especially mascara and eye liner. Tugging around your delicate eye area does not only hurt, but you are also risking damaging your eye and promoting wrinkles and sagging skin. Your sensitive eye area should be precious to you, so grab a nourishing oil-based cleanser like almond oil instead to remove heavy eye makeup.

They contain alcohol

Alcohol is one of the main ingredients in cleansing wipes, as it helps to break up your makeup quickly. It is also an ingredient you will want to stay away from if you have dry or sensitive skin. While it can easily remove blush and lipstick, it will also strip your skin of it’s natural oils and leave it dry and irritated. Alcohol can also prevent your moisturizer from sinking into your skin properly, making it essentially useless.

… and Preservatives

Ever wondered why your wipes stay moist and fresh for so long? That is not only due to the packaging (which is mostly plastic…), but also because they usually contain a ton of preservatives, which can irritate your skin and even trigger allergic reactions.

In the end, you are just moving your makeup around

Some of the make-up you’ve used during the day might come off onto the wipe, but most of it is just being shoved around on your face. You pores will be clogged and you can say hello to future breakouts.

Now it’s up to you. Do you really want to tug and tear your skin and irritate it every night? Cleansing wipes should be a late night exception, but definitely not part of your routine. Washing your face can be a lovely experience, especially if you have a great cleanser that matches your skin type and concern. Anti-wrinkle cream by lifecell

Cleaning wipes contain alcohol and it might clear stubborn lip liner but it is very effective at damaging skin. So, it does not suit everyone, but if you have dry skin then you have to be very careful.
