What is the essence of Henné Organics?
Organic luxury meets Scandinavian design. Taking elements from two worlds that I am passionate about and love. We use the purest organic and natural ingredients (many of them which are Nordic ingredients) and combine that with modern and minimalist Swedish design.
Henné Organics pays homage to the brand’s Swedish roots (I consider Sweden my second home and still hold residency there) as well as to all women (“Henne” in Swedish means “Her”).
One more element of Henné is the focus on experiencing moments of luxury on a daily basis. You don’t need to wait until #SelfCareSunday to enjoy some well-deserved pampering. All of our products are incredibly luxurious but also easy and convenient to use.
How has Henné’s philosophy & vision changed over time? In what ways has the brand grown?
While the vision of the brand has of course evolved over time, I would say that one unique way where we have grown is we have stuck to our core ethos and have not been swayed by fast fashion/beauty or fallen into the trap of jumping on every trend. While it’s tempting to launch products left and right, I believe that in order to launch a product that is truly amazing and made with love, it requires lots of time and attention to detail. I never want to launch a product that is mediocre or a product that was not even necessary to launch.
What were the most important product features you wanted to achieve with the formulation of your own natural lip products?
The cleanest and most effective ingredients. Formulations where each ingredient serves a very specific purpose (no added fluff ingredients). Hero ingredients that are prevalent in the formulas, not just a drop in a bucket so it can be added to the ingredients list (a common practice for larger, more conventional brands).
Where might you pull inspiration from when coming up with new products and new shades?
A combination of personal inspiration + listening to our wonderful customers’ requests and suggestions. We want to launch products that YOU the customers want and will love, so your feedback is so important to us.
What other brands are sitting on your bathroom shelves?
Tata Harper, May Lindstrom, Nécessaire, Grown Alchemist ✨
In what ways does sustainability play a role in your overall process?
Sustainability is an important aspect of Henné. From our ingredients and the way they are sourced to our packaging to our in-house manufacturing practices, we aim to be as sustainable as possible. There are still some packaging and sustainability initiatives that we would like to implement in the future (some of these require massive MOQ’s, which are hard for smaller brands like us to be able to afford), and I’m confident that we will be able later on when our company grows bigger.
What lies in Henné’s near future?
Some new product launches are on the horizon. I’m going to stay pretty tight-lipped for now, but let’s just say that these products will be in a completely new category for us.
What do you like most about the holiday season?
Spending quality time with family. We usually spend Thanksgiving with my side of the family and then go back to Sweden to spend Christmas with my husband’s family, so I look forward to lots of delicious home cooked Chinese food in November and Swedish ‘julbord’ in December.
Any final words for our Amazingy readers?
Sending much love and light to all of you! The past 1.5 years have been tough for all of us, but I hope that you are staying hopeful and optimistic about the future ❤️

J. R. Thesis Smith is a mixed-race millenial in the dawn of their 30s & a wordsmith of sorts. They've spent most of their waking life in the U.S. – in the urban sprawl of NYC that is New Jersey, in the depths of its suburban echoes – but always dreamed of making their way across a bigger pond, to a place where opportunity would knock a little more often. After completing their training at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts (effectively spending three poor years in NYC) as a dance major, they gifted themselves a semester of studying abroad in Berlin, and in doing so kept a vow made in early adolescence – thereby inciting a metamorphosis of promise into full-bodied intention: to eventually fully emigrate to Berlin, the first space that had ever allowed them the freedom to find their own breath, their pace of existence. Now that they finally live there, they're learning how to breathe again – striving to become a more active member of the Undercommons as they continue on the odyssey that is their self-realization as an artistic being. Their most resonant hope is that they will be able to say what is true & necessary & kind; that people will find the time to listen, to themselves and each other; and that their voice will inspire other voices to speak out in turn.
