Once again I’ll be spending my summer holidays super relaxed at the Baltic Sea. Over the years it has become a tradition. I love the unbelievably beautiful and wild beaches, the often stormy ocean and the morbid charm of the surrounding old villages. For the most part of my vacation I spend entire days at the beach, reading, swimming and basically enjoying doing absolutely nothing at all.
It took me quite some time and effort to find a sunscreen that is free of chemicals and equally beneficial for my skin. (For those interested in reading more about sunscreen, I highly recommend you this article.) Also important is that the cream doesn’t leave a white layer on my skin. I found my salvation with the Sun oil from Eco. I was so incredibly happy when I found it, that I could have bathed in it. The oil has a fruity summer smell without being penetrating, and on top of that it nourishes the skin. The icing on the cake is that the oil also contains Vitamin E, which counteracts the aging of skin. Oh, and of course I’m not getting sunburnt either. For those who are not big fans of oils, the Eco range also offers sunscreen as a cream.
Another favorite of mine this month is the Highlighter Radiance from Kjaer Weis. I was seriously excited when I heard that this product was being put on the market, and I’m not one to get excited that easily. Ever since then I’m a KW fan. I wear the highlighter on my cheek bones, on the bridge of my nose, my upper lip and sometimes even as an eye shadow. The highlighter looks especially amazing on tanned skin, which is good since during the summer time I usually don’t care to use any foundation but just a bit of concealer. The combination makes the skin look natural and healthy. Less is definitely more during the summer.
For my nails I really love wearing Malibu Beach Babe from NCLA at the moment. The polish has a gorgeous turquoise color, which looks especially marvelous on feet. (And of course , fingers as well.)
When it comes to deodorant I’m sticking to the aluminum free deo from Green Love, a vegan brand from Sweden. I choose the deodorant in stick form, personally I find it more practical than a cream. Green Love offers a whole range of fragrances, such as Vanilla, Lime, Lemongrass and Men’s Cologne, the latter smelling wonderfully like patchouli. I went for Coconut, as it immediately puts me in a holiday mood. For those preferring no fragrance at all, do not despair, Green Love also offers an unscented version.
After a full day at the beach my skin sometimes feel a bit stressed, as sunshine and salty water can be very drying. To soothe my skin I use my absolute favorite product from Dr. Alkaitis, the Soothing Gel. It doesn’t only soothe the skin, but provides a lot of moisture, since it contains Aloe Vera. Which is additionally perfect for problem skin, as Aloe Vera works as an anti-inflammatory. The Soothing Gel is gentle enough to use as a day and night cream, but I also smear it on my entire body, especially after sunbathing. Its quick absorption makes my skin look healthy again, feeling calm and soothed.
