Sadly, summer has finally come to an end. If you’ve been cherishing these hot and long days, this transitional period might be a bit harder for you. Although your tan lines will fade, worry not, fall is right around the corner to embrace you in a warm & snuggly hug. Ok, I might be a little biased–being born in late October, autumn marks my favorite season of the year. Not only because I look forward to receiving gifts and cards, but also because this season has so much in store for everyone. So if you feel a little blue today from packing away your summer dresses, I’ve compiled a list of things you can look forward to in the upcoming weeks.
Red, gold and orange. You will get to see those warm colors everywhere you go in the next couple of weeks. Dry leaves are going to scatter across the ground, making a satisfying sound as you trod your way through them. Take your lunch outside and enjoy some rays of sunshine while looking at the beauty nature has to offer, you won’t regret it.
Call me basic, but nothing tastes as good as a hot pumpkin spice latte right now. Make your own version by simply adding the tiniest amount of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove to your coffee, tea or apple juice. Those spices will not only put you in a cozy mood but can also reduce inflammations in your whole body.
There seems to be one fashion week after another these days and new trends are emerging by the minute. Say hello to ruffles, metallic fabrics and chokers. Even if you’re not into following big designers or brands, you still get to wear comfy sweaters, scarfs and light jackets. The options your wardrobe has to offer are suddenly endless.
I don’t know about you, but staying at home with some hot cocoa, curled up under a blanket while catching up on the latest season of my favorite TV Drama or reading a mystery novel… this all sounds like heaven to me. While summer is the season to enjoy warm evenings, fall is the season to relax, take time for yourself, and lounge around inside.
Christmas season makes me feel like a little kid again. Luckily, this special time is just around the corner! Don’t get me wrong, I also really love Halloween but Christmas just takes the cake when it comes to special celebrations. Picking out gifts for your loved ones, making a wish list yourself and baking cookies with your friends… OK, I’ll stop right there, but you see where I’m getting at? The thrill of anticipation sets in now, at least for me.
You know what fall smells like? Burning fires and crisp morning air. There is nothing else like it. As the season changes, the air seams to change as well. When the weather gets cooler, it actually omits odorous chemicals. The cold air triggers the same nerve that makes you cry when you chop an onion, so it’s not just your memories that help you identify that “fall smell”. There is a scientific explanation behind the fall smell, and to me it smells just amazing.
Your skin is also going to go through a change right now. As the air gets colder, your skin becomes drier and more prone to irritations. Now is the best time to take one of these colder evenings and turn it into a spa session. Fill up your bathtub with warm water and add in some essential oils. Put on a hydrating face mask and put some Argan oil in your hair. Light some candles and get in the tub. 20 minutes are enough to warm you up and totally relax you from head to toe.
We already established that I am a fan of anything including pumpkin spice. I also cannot resist the dreamy taste of caramel apples. Depending where you live, you might have other special fall treats that are showing up at your local supermarket. Maybe it’s candy corn, pumpkin soup or Federweisser, either way, enjoy them while you can because soon they will have to make room for gingerbread and mulled wine.
If you are always cold, but still wanna enjoy the outdoors as long as you can, a glowing bonfire is the way to go. Grab a blanket, sit down and get cozy while roasting some hotdogs or marshmallows. There is nothing as romantic as sitting by a crackling fire with your loved one.
What is your favorite fall tradition? Let us know in the comments below how you love to celebrate this special season.

Annie is addicted to beauty products. When she's not testing and trying out new goodies, she is usually baking the most delicious cakes and pies, which (hooray!) she then brings into the office for all to enjoy. Annie has a weakness for highlighters, oil treatments and cannot say no to anything that involves ice cream.
